HEAD PRESSURE CONTROL MODULE

The head pressure control module consists of a closed stainless steel (S/S) cylinder equipped with a pressure gauge, on/off control valve, and pressure sensor connected to the control console. The module’s gas inlet is connected to the off-gas of the bioreactor vessel via the condenser. The module regulates the head pressure of the vessel and serves as a reservoir to catch the foam-over in case of failure of the foaming control.

NOTE: the maximum pressure control range should be less than the pressure rating of the tubing connected between the condenser and the module, and the air/gas inlet pressure to the vessel. Said tubing also serves as a safety measure if the tubing pressure rating is far less than that of the glass vessel. In general, the pressure rating of glass vessel is about 5 bar and a control setting of 1 bar is recommended.
