BioFlex i Control Console: One console for most culture vessels and applications

The BioFlex I is a versatile, functional, and economical basic control console; capable of operating mechanically agitated and air-lift (or draft tube) vessels. All vessels can be used as a perfusion or biofilm vessel by using an external carrier column and a circulation pump controlled by the console (carrier column and external pump sold separately). The mechanically agitated vessel can adopt special paddle blade and marine turbine, reducing gear and temperature control scheme to regulate constant temperature water circulation system (as water bath), programmed extremely intermittent slow agitation scheme (as low as 5 rpm) to promote cell attachment for microcarrier cultures. Optionally the console can also be equipped with the sterilized in-place capability (software and hardware) to perform the simple version of in-place sterilization of laboratory bioreactor vessels. It can be custom made to add other sensors and any control capability at special request.

Includes

  • Four variable speed peristaltic pumps and two external pumps control outlets

  • Heating/cooling recirculation system for water-jacketed or cooling coil vessels and also heating control outlet for vessel using heating pad only w/o cooling requirement

  • Four gasses with automatic on/off control and 4 rotameters

Features

  • Software and hardware are designed to adopt individually to most vessels and processes including all single or reusable stirred vessels, air-lift bioreactor vessels, bio-film bioreactor and fixed bed continuous perfusion bioreactor.

  • Industrial grade microprocessor and programmable logic controller

  • Clearly presented graphic user interface with 9” HMI color touch panel and easy parameter adjustment

  • Trend display and data logging of up to 8 process values

  • Specially configured gassing systems for microbial and cell culture

  • Control of agitator speed, pH, DO, temperature, foam, filling level, substrate addition, gas mixture and gas volume (optional with mass flow controller)

  • Agitation system directly driven by detachable AC servo motor for stirred vessels

  • Programmable set point change of all controllable parameters including pH, temperature, DO, feeding rates etc during the entire culturing process.

  • Battery-protected memory storage for vital parameters

  • Automated pH/DO calibration

  • Gas mixing: N2/O2/CO2/Air mixture (for cell culture); Air (for microbial culture or optional with Air/O2 ) with rotameter and ON/OFF control valve (std)

  • Four peristaltic pumps: flexible and programmable for acid /base addition, defoaming, and/or feeding. Two additional pump outlets for external options.

  • Five categories of vessels covering most commonly used culture vessel types and applications available for selection.

  • Optionally the mechanically agitated vessel can be equipped with a special paddle blade and motor with a 5:1 speed reducing gear for microcarrier cultures.

  • Optionally the console can also be equipped with the sterilized in-place capability (software and hardware) to perform the simple version of in-place sterilization of laboratory bioreactor vessels.

  • It can be custom made to add other sensors and any control capability at special request.
